A calm first conversation before (or alongside) financial advice

Before you choose an adviser, commit to a plan, or act on a recommendation, whether it’s your first adviser or one you already have, you can pause, talk it through, and understand what really matters, what can wait, and what happens if you do nothing for now.

Two ways to get clarity

Both exist for different moments. Neither is a sales process.

When this conversation is useful

​

People usually come to talk to me when:

  • something significant has changed — retirement, bereavement, a lump sum, a decision that feels difficult to reverse

  • they feel pressure to “do something” but aren’t convinced it’s the right time

  • they already have an adviser and want space to think without being nudged

  • they’re worried about making the wrong call, not about maximising outcomes

  • they want clarity before action, rather than advice before understanding

What happens

​

We start with a conversation.

​

You explain what’s going on and what’s on your mind. I help you sort:

  • what really matters versus what feels urgent

  • what decisions actually exist

  • what the risks are — including the risk of doing nothing for now

The aim is clarity and understanding, not outcomes.

​

You leave with a calmer, clearer sense of the situation and what you want to do next — even if that next step is simply to pause.

What won’t happen

  • No product discussion

  • No recommendations

  • No technical sales language

  • No pressure to take the next step with me

  • No follow-up chasing

Many people who speak to me already have an adviser. Some are happy with them, some aren’t. That isn’t the point. This conversation exists independently of any advisory relationship.

What this is — and isn’t

​

This is a paid thinking session with an experienced, independent professional.

​

It is not:

  • financial advice

  • a second opinion on a product

  • a sales call

 

It’s a place to slow things down before they speed up.

Why this conversation is paid

Most financial “first meetings” are free because they are designed to lead somewhere — towards advice, recommendations, or a longer-term relationship.

This conversation is different.

​

It exists purely to slow things down, create clarity, and think properly before any decisions are made. There is no advice, no recommendation, and no expectation of what happens next.

​

Paying for the time keeps the conversation neutral. It means nothing needs to be sold, and nothing needs to be decided.

​
